Drift Lot Rules & Regulations

We’re all here to have a good time and learn about our cars, their limits and ours. These rules are put in place to ensure that we can keep these events going and keep them growing. Don’t be a clown unless you were hired to be one.

At this time, spectators are not allowed. We plan to change this in the future! Follow us or check back frequently to stay updated.

Driver Requirements

  • Closed face helmets are required. Open face helmets are not allowed.

  • Helmets must be D.O.T. approved at minimum. Snell-rated SA2015 or SA2020 are recommended. You can get them on Amazon or elsewhere for $150 bucks. It’s a small price to pay to keep your dome in one piece. Snell-rated helmets will be required at any regular race track so keep that in mind!

  • Helmet must be less than 5 years old based on Date of Manufacture.

  • Helmet must be in good condition and show no signs of damage. Chinstrap must be present and always fastened when wearing.

  • Driver must be 18 or older and hold a valid driver’s license

  • Do the right thing

Release & Waiver

Everyone at a Drift Lot event must sign a release and waiver form. We have one waiver for all elements, which must be signed when you check in. At this time, all event participants must be at least 18 or older. Keep an eye out as this may change in the near future.

Lot Rules

  • At this time, passengers are NOT allowed. These events are meant for you to explore your car, its knobs and your skill. This may change in the future.

  • Driver must pay very close attention to all Drift Lot Staff. If any of their instructions are ignored, the driver will be, at a minimum, kicked off track for the session. If the offense is repeated or unsafe, the driver will be tossed from the event. Don’t be that guy.

  • Donuts, burnouts, lighting up your tires, power-braking, or any other “look at me” behavior outside the designated areas are immediate grounds for getting sacked from the event entirely. Then we’ll all “look at you” as you leave.

  • If you can bring it in, you can bring it out. Please take all trash with you.

  • Your tires, your problem. They go with you when you leave.

  • If you leak any fluids, let a Lot worker know so we can get it taken care of.

  • Failure to follow Lot rules or any instruction from Lot Staff will result in immediate removal from the event and, depending on the severity of offense, cause you to be banned from all future Lot events.

Vehicle Requirements

1. General

  • It’s on you to make sure your vehicle isn’t too janky to make it through an event. General vehicle Inspection may include inspection of brakes, suspension, engine, drivetrain and chassis for proper operation, condition and potential issues.

  • Take all of the junk out of your car. Don’t show up to check in with your car looking like you just aired on an episode Hoarders. Loose items pose a danger to you and therefore, a danger to everyone else.

  • Fire Extinguishers are required for all cars. It must be securely mounted using a metal bracket within reach of the driver while seated with harness or seatbelt on. Minimum 2lb of extinguishing agent required (this does not mean overall weight of the entire extinguisher). Extinguisher must have gauge and gauge will be checked before each event. You can get both the extinguisher and the bracket at Home Depot for less $30.

  • If you stall, crash, run out of gas, etc. do NOT get out of the car. NEVER get out of the car on a hot track unless it's literally on fire. Flag down a Lot worker or wait for a Lot worker to give you instructions.

2. Suspension

  • Ball joints and suspension bushings must be in good condition and have no excessive play or clunking.

  • Wheel bearings must have zero play. Like, none.

  • Steering must be smooth in operation and exhibit no binding.

  • All lug nuts must be present and properly torqued and have proper thread engagement. If using bolt on spacers, all lug nuts attaching the spacer to the hub must be present.

  • You don't need a crazy angle kit to start, just wheels that turn.

3. Mechanical

  • No fluids can be leaking or dripping from the car. If a fluid leak is present, evidence must be shown that leak no longer exists.

  • Gas cap must be present and completely sealed.

  • Exhaust must be present and exit outside of the body or past the rear axle of the car. 95dB MAX. No one wants to hear your straight piped VQ - No one.

  • Battery must be securely tied down with plastic or metal strap and proper hardware. Battery tie down must be in good condition, no rubber tie downs, bungee cord, zip ties, etc. The positive terminal of the battery must be insulated.

  • Brake lights must be operational. At least 2 brake lights must come on when using brake pedal.

  • Hazard lights at front and rear must be operational. Hazard light switch must be located in cabin and within reach of driver while strapped into seat.

  • OE key must completely shut off car immediately. If OE key assembly is not used, a kill switch must be used to immediately shut off car. It needs to be easily accessible from outside of the car and the location needs to be clearly marked.

  • Tow hooks/straps are required. Front and rear recommended. Factory tow hooks are acceptable as long as the driver accepts that their car may be damaged when being towed. Tow hooks/straps should be easily found and painted a highly visible color and/or their location marked. Soft tow straps are recommended. Decorative hooks from eBay will be ripped out along with anything in their way. That's on you.

  • For convertibles, a factory or aftermarket rollbar should be present. If no roll bar is present, roof must be up and properly fastened.

  • If stock seats are used, stock seat belt must be used. Aftermarket harnesses are not allowed to be used with these seats.

4. Additional Shenanigans

  • If your car does one-tire-fire burnouts, it will not be acceptable for drifting. No VLSD's or factory diffs (unless they lock) allowed. Clutch type or welded diff required. If one of your wheels unlock mid-drift, it's a danger to you and everyone else. We're not trying to be d*cks, we're just trying to make you a better individual.

  • Don’t show up with bald tires. Your tires should be fresh – Burner tires are cheap and you should bring a couple of sets if you can. The amount of tires you bring will be directly related to the amount of drifting you can do. No refunds or credits will be given if you only get one lap in because your tires were sh*t. Consider yourself notified.

  • We recommend that you have sticky (200tw) tires up front and not your mom’s all-seasons. Not a requirement, we'll watch you struggle.

  • If you are driving your drift vehicle to the event, make sure you have tires to leave. That’s on you.

  • You should really have a working e-brake. Can be OE cable type or aftermarket hydraulic.

  • Anything found to be unsafe or questionable by Lot staff will be reviewed and decided upon by staff. If deemed unsafe, the car will not be allowed to run and that, as they say, is that.

  • No exceptions will be made at the event. No refunds for lost track time due to inability to meet these requirements.
